You came to The Hummingbird Field for a yoga class.
Something happened for you in that class that told you to return to your mat.
That something touched a deep truth in you, whether specific or undefined.
And this truth is at least a little bit (or maybe a lot) scary.
Not getting back on your mat is not serving you with what it is you’re avoiding.
That truth deep inside you is the yearning of your life calling out to you.
Your constant scrolling through social media is not really living, and yes, it’s so easy to procrastinate and make excuses for not getting on your mat.

Your yoga practice is work.
Yet you have the power of choice to make it all beautiful work.
You can freely modify the poses in any way that opens the door wider to your soul.
That defined or undefined truth in you isn’t going away.
Never.
Consider yourself fortunate for finding–for even scratching its surface, because this is what feeds the blessed unrest in you that is your spirit wanting more from the life you currently live.

You don’t need to return to the studio, yet you know you need to return to your mat.
You may not feel like dealing with traffic or transit.
Maybe walking the dog will replace your exercising for today.

Maybe you feel you need more support to help extinguish the excuses.
Consider the sweet benevolence of Dee, as she thoughtfully selects a new passage to read to you each class.
Guaranteed in every session, the care in Danny’s voice is sincere and almost palpable.
If Krys could, in a heartbeat she would pause the class to hug you and cry with you to welcome your tears.
Megan lovingly plans for days over the classes she offers you each week.
Sophia beautifully weaves her artistry through her instruction, reminding us that we are all artists.
You can feel in your body the wisdom brought by curiosity that goes into every class Tamara delivers to us.
Every single one of our beautiful teachers truly care.
And it matters not if you know them or if you have even met them.
All that matters is that there are people who stand at the front of the practice room, willing to meet your gaze as humans–humans who care.
Our annual Autumn 30 Day Journey begins today..
This is your community, if you choose. And something about it told you to return to your mat.

We bow to each of you,

Don
